I remember back when AOL was a thing and AIM was in it's prime. Ah to be young again...

I used to collect those AOL discs when I was a kid. Planned on stringing them together to make a large curtain, but never did. Had about 30 of them lol.

I wonder how many of those still work. Provided you could get a working 56k modem.

Ah, AOL CDs. The CVS receipt of the ‘90s.

True story, my husband still maintains an AOL email address.

I remember getting AOL 3.5" floppies in the mail . I was annoyed when they started sending CDs instead because I’d reformat the floppies and use them, b ut what the hell was I going to do with a CD-ROM?

I threw out most of the old CDs I found a while back, glued a few together in to (actual) coasters. They’re not great coasters, but they’re not awful. I think the ones I tossed included AOL, CompuS erve, and Prodigy.

I have a large number of old CD-ROMs , but I don’t think I saved any of those AOL ones. I did find that the mice in my freshman year dorm weren’t interested in chewing them so I used them to plug holes.

It’s amazing how bad they botched AIM, even without a strong business plan, it’s hard  to build social networks, and for a time, they had everyone. Maybe they should have spun it off or something.
